Career Guidance Assessments

Career Guidance Assessments include Interest and Personality assessments to assist learners to understand themselves better in relation to the world of work, as well as choose career paths suited for them. These assessments provide important information to help learners make informed career decisions and to keep them motivated to pursue career and academic goals.

Interest Assessment

The Interest Assessment identifies career interests and narrows these interests down to career fields with specific occupations for possible further exploration.

Personality Assessment

The Personality Assessment compiles a personality profile, describing individual preferences as it relates to dealing with and relating to people, processing information, making decisions and organizing life.

Career Development Tools

Career Development Tools to help learners choose appropriate and informed career paths include Career Exploration, Important Information, CV-Builder/Generator, and Workbooks and Programmes.

Career Exploration

The Career Exploration component of the system also allows the learner to use their assessment profiles and explore career fields, specific occupations, bursaries, tertiary institutions for further study, etc.

Important information is provided to the learner in an ordered, easy-to-explore-and-understand fashion.

The CV-builder/generator helps the leaner early on to compile a winning CV in aid of continuous career development. The learner is prompted to provide relevant information, which is then used to automatically generate a CV.

Deciding on a career is one of our most important life decisions. It is a particularly daunting task as it determines our life direction, future socio-economic circumstances, quality of life, and ultimately our happiness. It is a decision that determines what we wake up to go to in the morning, what we spend most our time doing during our waking hours, and what we will recover from when we go to bed at night.

Our career decision serves as a destination that accordingly directs our life plans, serving as motivation for us to make appropriate decisions, aligning our activities to meet a desired end or achieve a particular goal. It is no wonder that learners who choose informed and appropriate career paths suited for them perform better academically, are more goal directed and less distracted by social ills than those who are not.

Our education system is designed in such way that the subjects we choose at the end of Grade 9 for Grade 10 determines the field of study we qualify for on completion of school. Particular career fields require the correct combination of subjects as entry requirements, and if the correct combination of subjects is not chosen, learners could find themselves unable to enter into certain higher or further education programmes.
